This group has taken up the invitation of the Diocesan ‘Come and See’
renewal initiative to meet regularly within the parish to share our love for
and understanding of the Word of God. Our bishops and the pope in Rome
have urged all Catholics to read and study the bible. We meet each week in
Lent and Advent, and fortnightly for the rest of the year, to read, reflect on,
and pray about the readings for the following Sunday’s parish Mass. In this
way we look at both Old Testament and New Testament passages. Everyone in the group finds that the Sunday parish mass comes much more alive when we have had time to prepare the readings. Some members of the scripture group are also encouraging each other to read more systematically through the bible. The meetings always end with prayer.
When and where
The group meets on a Monday at 7.30pm at John and Violet’s house,9 Tyersal Close and all are most welcome. For further information contact the Parish Office or ring
John and Violet on 661227.
The one Monday we don’t meet is the 1st Monday of the month. On this
Monday the rosary is prayed at the nearby home of Mrs Knowlton – 128 Tyersal Road - starting at 8.00pm. We pray for the needs of our families, the needs of the parish and for our priests. Again all are welcome. Members of the parish are more than willing to come to other homes in the parish to pray the rosary – for example after a bereavement. (Please ask any member of the SVP) .
